The Hotwall team helped create leading Internet privacy standards and we know that you care about how your personal information is used and shared.
This privacy policy covers our policies and practices for the collection, usage and disclosure of any Personal Information and Anonymous Information you submit through the Hotwall service ("Service").

Types of Information
Personal Information
Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable to you, such as your name, address, email address, gender, phone number, or location as well as other non-public information that is associated with the foregoing.
Anonymous Information
This means information that is not associated with or linked to your Personal Information; Anonymous Information does not permit the identification of individual persons.
Information We Collect
In order to provide the Hotwall service, we may collect information from you.
Personal Information You Provide to Us.
Hotwall does not collect any Personal Information about you (such as your name, email address, age, preferences, location, etc.) except when you specifically, voluntarily and knowingly provide such information through our Service and/or the Application.
The types of Personal Information we collect are:
* When you enter any information into your Hotwall account such as referral URLs and header messages we will collect that information.
* When you enter a post using Hotwall we will collect the URL of the web page you are viewing and the text you enter as a post.
* If you create a premium Hotwall account on our web site, we collect only the information you provide, such as your name and email address. To process payment for Hotwall premium services we will collect your physical address, phone number, and payment information such as your credit card number, and expiration date; or PayPal account name.
We may process your Personal Information in the country where it was collected as well as other countries (including the United States) where laws regarding processing of Personal Information may be less stringent than the laws in your country.
Cookies
When you use the Hotwall service, we send one or more cookies - a small file containing a string of characters - to your computer that uniquely identifies your browser. We use cookies solely to identify your browser so that we can provide you with a more personal and interactive experience. We do not use cookies to store personal information or track activity. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies, but you can reset your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent. However, the Hotwall application and services may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.
Log Information
When you use the Hotwall application, our servers automatically record information that your browser sends to us including your Internet protocol address, browser type, operating system, time of day, and browser language.
How We Use Information
Personal Information you submit to us is used to respond to requests that you make; to improve our Hotwall service; to better tailor the features, performance and support of the Hotwall service; and to offer you additional information, opportunities, and functionality.
Hotwall Services
When you sign up for a level of Hotwall service that requires registration, we ask you to provide personal information. If we use this information in a manner different from the purpose for which it was collected, then we will ask for your consent prior to such use.
When you provide your Twitter account name and password we will send this information to Twitter in order to link your Hotwall account to your Twitter account.
When you make Hotwall posts, these may be viewable by your followers within your social network along with your referral URL, message and ad placement.
When you subscribe to premium Hotwall services, we will use your credit card and related phone and address information, or your PayPal account name in order to process your fee.
If we propose to use personal information for any purposes other than those described in this Policy and/or in the specific service notices, we will offer you an effective way to opt out of the use of personal information for those other purposes. We will not collect or use your personal information for purposes other than those described in this Policy and/or in the specific service notices, unless we have obtained your prior consent.
You can decline to submit personal information to Hotwall, in which case Hotwall may not be able to provide all or some aspects of our Service or Application to you.
If we delete your account at your request, we will delete all Personal Information from the account, but we retain the right to maintain non-personally identifiable information about the account (e.g. date created, date terminated, etc.). We may choose to maintain posts and comments you have contributed to the Hotwall community.
Upgrades
On occasion, we may automatically provide you with the latest update to the Hotwall plugin or bookmarklet.
Anonymous Information Analysis
We may create Anonymous Information records from Personal Information by excluding information (such as your name) that makes the information personally identifiable to you. We may use this Anonymous Information to analyze usage patterns so that we may enhance our Service. We may disclose Anonymous Information to third parties to assist in analysis.
User communications
When you send email, provide feedback or other communication to Hotwall, we may retain those communications in order to process your inquiries, respond to your requests and improve our services.
We will only send you newsletters or promotional communications if you have opted-in to receive such communications. When you receive newsletters or promotional communications from us, you may indicate a preference to stop receiving further communications from us and you will have the opportunity to "opt-out" by following the unsubscribe instructions provided in the email you receive.
Hotwall may occasionally conduct user surveys to better understand what our users like and don't like about our service. We may also offer interactive polls to users so they can easily share their opinions with other users and see what the community thinks about different Web sites. Opinions and responses to surveys and polls are aggregated and are not identifiable to any particular user.
We will send you administrative emails regarding our Service or notices of any updates to our Terms of Service for the Hotwall Service, any Application License Agreement, or Privacy Policy.
Affiliated Sites and Services
We may contract with third parties to promote the products and/or services of these third parties by placing ads on the Hotwall Application or the Hotwall Website. We may use information that was posted by members of the Hotwall Services to tailor the display of ads to the interest of the members of our community. We will not use any Personal Information to tailor the display of ads or to determine your interest in advertising. Clicking on ads may direct you to the website of the third party and the third party may also use Cookies in connection with these ads. The affiliated sites may have different privacy practices and we encourage you to read their privacy policies. These other sites may also place their own cookies or other files on your computer, collect data or solicit personal information from you.
Other Uses
Hotwall only processes personal information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy and for the following specific purposes:
* Providing our products and services to users, including the display of customized content and advertising;
* Auditing, research and analysis in order to maintain, protect and improve our services;
* Ensuring the technical functioning of our network; and
* Developing new services.
Information sharing
Hotwall only shares personal information with other companies or individuals outside of Hotwall in the following limited circumstances:
* We have your explicit consent. We require opt-in consent for the sharing of any personal information.
* We provide such information to our subsidiaries, affiliated companies or other trusted businesses or persons for the purpose of processing personal information on our behalf. We require that these parties agree to process such information based on our instructions and in compliance with this Policy and any other appropriate confidentiality and security measures.
* We have a good faith belief that access, use, preservation or disclosure of such information is reasonably necessary to (a) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or enforceable governmental request, (b) enforce applicable Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations thereof, (c) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, or (d) protect against imminent harm to the rights, property or safety of Hotwall, its users or the public as required or permitted by law.
If Hotwall becomes involved in a merger, acquisition, or any form of sale of some or all of its assets, the purchasing, acquiring, or merging company will possess the Personal Information collected by us and it will assume the rights and obligations regarding your Personal Information as described in this Privacy Policy. If the acquiring entity's processing of your information will materially differ from that set forth in this Privacy Policy, we will provide notice before personal information is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We may share some aggregate information about our user base with sponsors and business partners. For example, we may disclose how frequently the average Hotwall user activates the Hotwall Application, and runs different functions of the app..
Any information contained on publicly available portions of the Hotwall website (e.g. member profiles or other areas that are not password protected) may be "crawled" by third party search engines. As a result, any Personal Information you include on such publicly available portions of the Hotwall website may be accessible through search engines in search results.
Regarding Children
You must be 13 years and older to register to use the Hotwall service. We do not intentionally gather Personal Information about Visitors or Users who are under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under the age of 13, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. We recommend that minors between ages of 13 and 18 ask and receive their parents' permission before using Hotwall or sending information about themselves or anyone else over the Internet.
Information Security
We use reasonable measures to maintain the security of your Personal Information. However, no company, including us, can fully eliminate security risks associated with Personal Information.
Data integrity
Hotwall processes personal information only for the purposes for which it was collected and in accordance with this Policy. We periodically review our data collection, storage and processing practices to ensure that we only collect, store and process the personal information needed to provide or improve our services. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information we process is accurate, complete, and current, but we depend on our users to update or correct their personal information whenever necessary.
